New Delhi, 08.03.2025 , Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is reaching new heights of development. Gupta was addressing at the Business Conclave 2025 organized at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University. On this occasion, he emphasized that today, we have gathered to discuss an India that is not just a land of opportunities but also a “Center of Innovation,” ready to achieve new milestones. He described India as not just a country but an ocean of possibilities.

Gupta highlighted that Business Conclave 2025 is SRCC’s prestigious annual management festival and is considered one of Asia’s largest undergraduate management events. He extended his congratulations and best wishes to Principal Prof. Simrit Kaur for the successful organization of the event.

He expressed his happiness that SRCC has had the honor of hosting several distinguished personalities over the years, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, former Presidents Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Pranab Mukherjee, former Union Minister Arun Jaitley, the 14th Dalai Lama, and renowned business leaders such as Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Adi Godrej, Sundar Pichai, Sandeep Singh, Kapil Sharma, and Suresh Raina, among others.

The Assembly Speaker emphasized that India offers business opportunities worth billions of dollars across various sectors. With a vast population of 1.4 billion people, India provides a ready customer base for businesses, making it the world’s fastest-growing economy. India is also leading in AI adoption, with 80% of companies considering it a primary strategy. Over the past decade, 50 startups have been registered in India every day, and a new unicorn startup is born every month—figures that tell the story of a new India.

Discussing technological advancements, Gupta stated that last year, India filed 300 patents daily, compared to just 11 in 2014. India now leads the global digital payments sector, accounting for 46% of total transactions worldwide. Additionally, India has emerged as the world’s second-largest 5G market. By meeting G20 and Paris Agreement targets ahead of schedule, India has demonstrated that it is not just developing but also acting as a responsible global leader.

Highlighting the contribution of women to India’s progress, Gupta emphasized that India’s growth is not limited to economic and technological fields—it is also making rapid strides in women’s empowerment. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, he proudly noted that India is transitioning from “women’s development” to “women-led development.”

Under the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Act), 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies have been reserved for women. In 2019, a record 78 women were elected to the Lok Sabha. The rise of women in leadership is evident beyond politics—female startup founders in India increased from 10% in 2017 to 18% in 2022. India also has the highest percentage of female pilots (15%) globally. The Indian Army has deployed the largest female peacekeeping contingent in the UN, with over 10,400 women officers now serving—3.5 times more than in 2015.

In education, too, significant progress has been made—nearly 50% of students enrolling in STEM courses are now women, and the number of female PhD scholars has risen 2.3 times to 99,000.

Discussing India’s AI revolution, Gupta noted that for the first time, the Indian government is directly supporting the AI ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. The IndiaAI Mission has been allocated ₹10,300 crore to develop AI models across the country with 10,000 GPUs (graphics processing units), and soon, an additional 8,693 GPUs will be integrated. In just 10 months, India’s GPU infrastructure has reached 18,693 GPUs—nine times that of Open Source Model DeepSeek and two-thirds of ChatGPT’s capacity.

In a groundbreaking move, India has launched a GPU Marketplace, a first-of-its-kind government initiative enabling startups, researchers, and students to access high-end AI resources. While in other countries, AI infrastructure is monopolized by big tech companies, India is making it accessible to all.

Due to improved IPO prospects, simplified regulatory procedures, and strong investor confidence, major companies such as Zepto, Groww, Pine Labs, PhonePe, Razorpay, and Flipkart are shifting their headquarters back to India under “reverse flipping.” PhonePe completed its relocation in 2022, Groww and Pine Labs in 2024, while Razorpay and Flipkart are in the process.

Reflecting on India’s economic strength, Gupta pointed out that the expanding capital markets and benefits of domestic listing are attracting startups back to India. This trend will help transform India into a global startup hub and reinforce the country’s position as an increasingly business-friendly destination.

Concluding his speech, Gupta called upon the audience to recognize that today’s India is a land of opportunities. It is the fastest-growing economy, a leader in technology and innovation, a country progressing under women’s leadership, and a rising global power in AI. The time has come for India to reclaim its position as Vishwaguru. Believe in India, because India’s future is bright!
