New Delhi, 31March 25। The annual G-Murali Cricket Tournament witnessed an exhilarating match at the Sports Ground, New Police Line, Kingsway Camp. In a thrilling day-night 20-over game, The Commissioner of Police XI, under the captainship of Sh. Vijay Singh, Jt.CP/Transport, emerged victorious against Media XI which played under captainship of Suresh Jha.
Winning the toss, Media XI elected to bat first and posted a total of 106 runs, losing all 10 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a modest target, The Commissioner of Police XI achieved the required runs in just 16 overs, losing only 3 wickets. Sikandar Singh was instrumental in their victory, claiming 4 crucial wickets and earning the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his exceptional bowling performance.
Hareshwer Swami was the standout batsman for Commissioner of Police XI, contributing a valuable 42 runs off 32 balls.
Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police, Delhi graced the match as Chief Guest. The match was attended by senior police officials and cricket enthusiasts, all of whom witnessed a display of skill and sportsmanship.
The annual tournament continues to honor the legacy of the late Sh. G Murali, a revered journalist who passed away during a mountaineering expedition in 1981.
