Janakpuri Assembly to be Developed as a New Model of Growth in Delhi—Ashish Sood

New Delhi I 20 March 25. Under the ‘Janata ka Vidhayak–Janata ke Beech’ initiative, Delhi Minister for Home, Power, Urban Development, and Education, Ashish Sood, conducted an inspection of A, B, C, and D blocks of Janakpuri Assembly constituency and the area stretching from Shoe Market to Mother Dairy in Uttam Nagar. During the inspection, the Minister directly interacted with local residents, listened to their grievances with empathy, and issued strict directives to officials for their immediate resolution. Senior officials from the Delhi Jal Board, MCD, Delhi Police, Horticulture, Power Department, and other government agencies were also present during the visit.

Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi government is working in action mode. To fulfill the vision of making Delhi the developed capital of a developed India, Shri Ashish Sood is personally engaging with the public every week to resolve civic issues at the grassroots level.

Following his visit to Chanakya Place Part-2, Shri Ashish Sood inspected every lane and neighbourhood of A, B, C, and D blocks in Uttam Nagar, along with Bajrangi Park, under the ‘Janata ka Vidhayak–Janata ke Beech’ programme. The visit saw a large gathering of local residents from Shoe Market to Mother Dairy, where people freely voiced their concerns regarding hanging electrical wires, sewage blockages, contaminated water supply, deteriorating parks, the need for streetlights and CCTV cameras, and other pressing civic issues. Residents also raised concerns over the poor maintenance of small and large parks, including Bajrangi Park, requesting tree trimming, water sprinkling, and immediate repairs of defunct streetlights. Women residents raised issues related to illicit alcohol and drug consumption and anti-social behaviour in parks.

Observing garbage piles, broken electrical wires, and deteriorating infrastructure, Shri Sood issued an ultimatum to the area’s Deputy Commissioner and directed officials from the Horticulture Department, BSES, Delhi Jal Board, MCD, and other agencies to take immediate corrective action. He also issued strict instructions to the area SHO to crack down on anti-social elements in parks in coordination with senior police officers.
Speaking to the media after the ‘Janata ka Vidhayak–Janata ke Beech’ programme, Shri Sood stated, “The people have blessed us with their mandate, and we have formed the government. As a Cabinet Minister and the MLA of Janakpuri, it is my duty to listen to the people of my constituency and ensure immediate resolution of their issues. I do not believe in blame games; I believe in working at the ground level. Democracy truly means listening to the people’s voices, solving their grievances, and advancing on the path of progress. Even though the Municipal Corporation is governed by the Aam Aadmi Party, we remain committed to resolving every issue of the people so that we can fulfill the vision of making Delhi the developed capital of a developed India.”
Addressing concerns ahead of the summer season, Shri Sood instructed officials to work proactively to prevent power outages and drinking water shortages in summer, while also ensuring pre-monsoon preparedness for drainage and waterlogging issues. He ordered that garbage collection and encroachment removal be prioritized, with strict instructions for proper disposal of waste at designated sites instead of dumping it along roadsides.
During the inspection, Shri Sood also emphasized the role of residents of Janakpuri in the area’s development. He urged them to energetically collaborate with government departments to keep Janakpuri clean, safe, and well-maintained. He further assured that if any government official failed to respond to complaints, residents could contact him directly. Sood reaffirmed that both he and his team of officials would remain available 24X7 to address public grievances.
