LG, CM & PWD Minister Inspect Drain Cleaning – A Major Step Towards a Waterlogging-Free Delhi

Date:

New Delhi, 19 March 25 । Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a cleaner and more developed Delhi, the city is making rapid strides in improving its civic infrastructure. In a significant step towards this goal, Lieutenant Governor Shri V.K. Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and MP Bansuri Swaraj, along with PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, today inspected the cleaning work at Sunehri Pul drain near Lodhi Road.

The Sunehri Pul drain, which had been clogged with silt and waste for years, has been a major cause of waterlogging and foul odor, particularly during the monsoon season. Speaking at the site, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma emphasized that the Delhi government is fully committed to finding a permanent solution to this issue and ensuring that residents no longer face these recurring challenges.

  • Advanced Technology for Effective Cleaning, Multi-Agency Collaboration

To address the issue comprehensively, cutting-edge suction machines are being deployed to remove the accumulated waste efficiently. The filtered water is then treated and released back into the drain, improving drainage flow and preventing future blockages. Additionally, multiple agencies have been engaged to formulate and implement a long-term plan to maintain a clean and well-functioning drainage system in the city.

  • Proactive Monsoon Preparations to Prevent Waterlogging

With the monsoon season approaching, preventive measures have been accelerated to minimize waterlogging and ensure a smooth urban experience for Delhiites. The administration is closely monitoring drainage systems across the city and working proactively to strengthen Delhi’s flood management and water disposal systems.

Parvesh Verma’s Commitment – A Cleaner, Better, and Waterlogging-Free Delhi

  • Speaking on the occasion, Minister Parvesh Verma said:

“Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a clean and developed India, we are working tirelessly to make Delhi waterlogging-free and improve civic infrastructure. This is not just about cleaning a drain; it is a major step towards building a cleaner, more efficient, and well-managed city. The government is fully committed to enhancing the quality of life for Delhi’s residents, and we will continue to undertake such initiatives to ensure a modern and sustainable urban environment.”

The Delhi government and administration remain focused on ensuring that the capital continues to evolve into a clean, green, and well-maintained city, making life easier and healthier for its citizens.
