PWD Minister Approves Proposal to Transfer Delhi-Rohtak Road (NH-10) to NHAI

Date:

New Delhi, 4 March 2025 In a major step towards improving Delhi’s road network, the Public Works Department (PWD), under Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, has approved a proposal to transfer the 13.23 km stretch of Delhi-Rohtak Road (NH-10) from Peeragarhi Chowk to Tikri Border to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This move, which has been agreed to in principle by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, will facilitate the upgradation of this crucial corridor into a world-class highway.

The PWD minister has approved the proposal and forwarded it to NHAI for the transfer of this vital stretch. This step is aimed at ensuring its development as per national highway standards and improving smoother traffic flow, better road conditions, and enhanced connectivity for thousands of daily commuters traveling between Delhi and Haryana. This initiative aligns with the Modi government’s vision of expanding and integrating road networks across multiple states, ensuring seamless travel and boosting economic growth.

As part of a larger infrastructure development strategy, all national highways lying within the GNCTD (Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi) are being identified for transfer to NHAI under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This will ensure better road maintenance, faster execution of projects, and long-term sustainability of Delhi’s highway network.

PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh’s Statement:

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the in-principle agreement of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, I have approved and forwarded the proposal to NHAI for the transfer of the 13.23 km Delhi-Rohtak Road (NH-10) stretch from Peeragarhi Chowk to Tikri Border for its much-needed upgradation. The double-engine government is focused on ensuring smoother traffic flow, enhanced connectivity, and world-class infrastructure. Additionally, all national highways within Delhi are being identified for transfer to NHAI under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, further strengthening India’s highway network and reducing travel time for commuters.”

With seamless Centre-State coordination, this initiative highlights the Modi government’s commitment to large-scale infrastructure development, ensuring Delhi’s roads meet global standards and contribute to a stronger national highway network.
